I researched at least 10 different portable fans and cooling devices but decided to get this one after reading the reviews and liking the aesthetics of it. It is a very good product. As for the price - I have gotten better hand held fans at the dollar store! For some reason, I had initially thought this came with an internal USB battery, but was disappointed when I learned it did not.
It comes with a tiny bottle to keep water. Use this on the go to refresh the sponge.
The filter can smell a bit if you don't wash it, simply because its always wet. It's got an adjustable vent but it only moves up and down. After using it on and off for about two weeks it started rattling which is very annoying. When used outside it just doesn't produce enough air to make much difference. This is not much of an air conditioner, but it's a great product when the temperature gets into the 90s. I was recommended by a friend when her husband got one for work (he's a construction worker) and had good things to say about. I bought this for its battery operated portability and it started out working well but after only a few uses it stopped working matter how new the batteries were. So happy with this cooler! I also was expecting to use it in my car which does not have A/C and on trips like going to Disney. But sadly in a room with the inside temperature of around 77F-78F this device does not cool very much. I purchased two of these hand-held fans for a trip that my wife and I took to St Lucia. First of all, while yes they do blow a nice current of air it isn't super-cool air as they advertise, no matter how cold the water you put in the sponge is. I also bought the flexible air tube for him to cool inside his heat-proof jacket. He loved the combination and does everything it claimed to do. The sponge dries out very quickly and even when wet does not do much cooling. I was very disappointed with the evaporation cooler aspect of this fan, don't count on it.
This is my first review on an item just because I dont want anyone to be ripped off like I did. I think the cheap mist fan is comparable to this and it even works better for a price less than 40 bucks. Oh well live and learn. The battery lasted a good 2 days before I have to replace them. You need to take the filter out and refill out but I find it easier to pour water directly onto the filter even with the lid on (the lid has a lot of holes to breathe).
I bought this to stay cool in church, so it is useless for that because of the noise. The sponge idea is neat but there are musty odors often and the sponge must be cleaned a lot.
I needed a little fan compact enough to carry in bag when I move around from difference warehouse. I work as a courier for a factory.
