The Veritable Triton Tungsten

By Chad Stevenson

When finally deciding to get married people should make themselves; aware of what it means to choose the right wedding ring. As it comes to succeeding in the life long coupling of marriage it necessarily takes dedication, strength, endurance, integrity and honesty. As a couple eternally committed to one another you're going to have to suffer through hard times in order to see the good times together. Life never works out exactly as planned and to think that marriage will go exactly as you wish is just being nave to reality. When it comes to picking the most appropriate wedding rings you'll want them to meet the standards of endurance and integrity that marriage means. Unlike gold or silver however; tungsten wedding bands in all their cheapness do not meet those ideal standards.

A misleading fact about tungsten carbide that doubles as a marketing tool for jewelers is its ostensible strength and hardness. The truth of the matter is that tungsten does indeed rank high on the Mohs scale of hardness but it's a double edged sword. Since tungsten is so hard it's also quite brittle and will most definitely crack and snap with not much effort.

Because it's sold with the understanding of its brute toughness when it's anything but tungsten goes; against all that symbolizes wedding rings. It's impossible to expect your marriage to last a life time when you don't even have a ring that's going to last. The concepts of honesty, integrity, strength and endurance go right out the window with tungsten rings.

In addition to not living up to the symbolism of marriage tungsten wedding bandsare also generally impractical for life. Since it is such a hard material it's actually impossible to re-size like with gold or silver wedding rings. If you gain or lose weight over time which can obviously happen you'll have to either go out and buy a new ring that fits your size or have an assumption with the dealer you bought it from in order to exchange it for something different. Either way it isn't the everlasting symbol you want it to be.

When settling on wedding rings bear in mind what it means to display one on your finger and the symbolism inherent with it. If you choose something of poor quality such as tungsten you'll be failing to meet the true definition of what marriage stands for.
