I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone. This is one of those rare products that looks cool in the ads and then when you get it is even better than you expected. I ordered this product because I am undergoing chemotherapy and my temperatures get to very high levels sometimes, it helps a lot, I just place it next to me and it cools me down almost immediately. I find it the best when I place it next to my face and then the rest of my body will eventually cool down to. If you follow the instructions to a T, it's still going to leak. Not only that, but the air it puts out is equivalent to that of the nostrils of a sleeping person breathing lightly on you from the adjacent pillow.
It's easy to pack and not heavy so you can bring it everywhere. If you use it at home, you can take out the batteries and plug in a USB cable that it comes with.
At the end of the day it is just a fan and I'm sure there are other products that can do what the handy cooler can does, but this has done it well and I recommend it. I was a bit skeptical about it at first, but after testing it out am all for it. I bought this fan for my mother because she has hot sweats. The quality of the fan while cool isn't very strong and, within 2-3 months' time, it's not very durable as the fan mechanism/housing kept popping off.
I'm not sure what the other reviewers were so happy with - Like I said, don't waste your money or time on this item. I bought this from the county fair last month and have been using more often than I thought I would.
Temperatures have gotten surprisingly hot so early this year. The Handy Cooler cools you down quite well and is easy to use. The only issue I have is that it doesn't come with the ac adapter and you have to spend that extra 10 bucks. Bought this to use when electric goes off because of storms and used in later August, does not run very long on a set of batteries and does not cool an area like stated, if I would have known I would have bought two of the two cool fans instead as that works great! There is something wrong with the switch - it won't come back on at all. It has been too long since I bought it so I don't think I can get a refund or a new one. The air is cooler than any fan you can purchase due to the unique way it cools. It is easy to use and you can re wet the filter at any time to keep it running as cool as can be.
Not too bad for a hand held little unit! I bought this for my trip to Miami and I love it. It is very quiet, the front grill is plastic, it's and more importantly has no plastic odor which is a huge plus for me as I find that smell unbearable. The product works by moisturizing the air which brings the temperature down. I plugged it into the USB output from my netbook and it took 2 minutes for the filter to cool down. Once it's warmed up (or more like 'cooled down'!) it gave a very nice breeze.

I got some window air conditioner covers with my purchase. For those who have a small house I'm certain it might work fine. CAMPING AIR CONDITIONER. The unit is pretty quiet, other than when the 'SWEEP' is turned on. I grew up in New Haven, CT and the humidity is awful and unbearable! Cheap Portable Air Conditioner.
