Way Too Big Great Only For Giants - Noise Cancelling Headphones Review Review

By Nathan Bennett

This was, no doubt, influenced by the headphone amp of my 5200ES. You would think a $1500.00 dollar receiver could do better, but alas that is a nit that I shall pick another day.

I red some comments before I bought them that they are difficult to pair - I didn't find that at all. In fact, as soon as powered up the transmitter and put the batteries in, they came right on! The ultimate test was the television with 5.1 surround sound. When these headphones were plugged into the home theater system, for the first time he was happy. Like a new remote control on a new TV, yes, it does require some getting used to but we have had fantastic feedback otherwise. These are simply the best full-sized wireless headphones that I have heard. The headphones presented a very wide sound stage with ample presence but not too much "air". As I stated above these are very warm sounding headphones.

Everything considered I would recommend this headset highly to anyone! I bought this wireless headphone system to use while watching TV late at night, so I won't wake my spouse who sleeps upstairs above the TV room. You have to be careful placing the headphones on the cradle, to insure the contacts engage for charging. However, there's an amber LED that lights while the headphone set is charging, so it's obvious when contact has been made. Problem is controls, the power and volume up and down buttons on next to each other. You always accidentally turn the headphones off while trying to turn up or down the audio. You never hear static or noise from these headphones. When you get to the limit of the range they just cut off.

Once I got used to them, it's fairly easy to adjust without hitting the power button. These headphones are exactly what I wanted and I'm so glad they are loss less so I can listen to my music at CD quality.

They're not inexpensive, but they work (for me) really well. I purchased these for my step-father. The headphones are comfortable though I would like a bit more padding spanning the entire headband. The buttons on the headphones that control power, volume and balance (handy if you have asymmetrical hearing deficits) are too small and flat. The buttons are very small, close together; and insufficiently raised above the background. With practice, however, I've learned to use all of them without having to remove the headset. They twist and adjust quite a bit to fit different size and shaped heads. The base is modern and nice looking.
